Booysendal Platinum is situated on the border of the Limpopo and Mpumalanga Provinces near the towns of Mashishing (Lydenburg), Roossenekal and Steelpoort. The mine is located on the southernmost exposure of the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex with eighty percent of its resources in the Mpumalanga Province. The Mine has a board and pillar mining layout and operates with trackless mechanised mining equipment Booysendal is a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Northam Platinum Limited, a well-established, mid-tier independent and integrated platinum group metals producer with a strong tradition of innovation and technical expertise in the sector.

Position purpose: The Manager: Human Resources will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Human Resource strategic plan for the mine. The incumbent has to align the operational HR plan to the overall Group HR strategy while considering various EE related realities facing the operation. The role is also responsible for providing strategic advice to the Mine’s Management team to support them from a Human Resource perspective.
The Manager: Human Resources is responsible for the continuous audit of people practices to ensure alignment with the Group Human Resource Strategy and Operational Strategic plan and to provide active organisational leadership to ensure pro-active employee engagement within the business. The Manager: Human Resources will be required to support the General Manager through critical contribution to decision making and strategic plan implementation related to Human Resource management of the business.

Key performance areas: • Develop and implement the HR plan in accordance with the Group HR strategy • Develop and manage the HR budget • Develop and implement human resources governance (structures, systems, procedures and processes) • Ensure mine statutory compliance (SED, SLP, BCEA, EE, Mining Charter, Women in Mining) • Align positions to relevant grading and advise line management accordingly as well as coordinate the grading of new roles • Approve and submit mine specific statutory reports and other related data to Group HR Manager • Provide Human Resource services: • Workforce planning and labour management • Human resource management • Employee and external stakeholder relations management • Employee development • Remuneration and benefit management • Organisational development and transformation • Continuous customer satisfaction.

Qualifications, experience and capabilities: • Human Resources qualification at NQF level 7 or relevant professional qualification • At least seven (7) years’ experience in Human Resources in a mining environment of which at least three (3) years were on managerial level • Sound knowledge of mining and labour legislation • Good written and verbal communication skills • Computer literate • Medical Certificate of Fitness • Sensitivity to stakeholders.
