ADVERTISEMENT OF 120 LEARNER SUPPORT AGENT POSTS ON A FIXED-TERM CONTRACT
1. The Limpopo Department of Education hereby invites applications for Learner Support Agents consisting of 100 Post-Matriculant posts and 20 Social Worker posts for a fixed-term contract.
2. The posts involved are outlined as follows:

Post No. 1 : Post-Matriculant x 100 Posts
Period : Six (06) Months fixed-term contract
Remuneration : R3 500 per month (stipend)
Work Station : Identified High Burden Public Secondary/ELSEN Schools in Limpopo (Annexure A)
 
Requirements: A National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and a recognized Diploma in Community Development or Auxiliary Social Work. A degree in the same field as recognized by SAQA will serve as an added advantage. Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
 
Skills and Competencies: Good writing skills that will enable the incumbent to compile reports. Good communication, listening and problem solving skills. Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (for work related purposes). Ability to work with learners, educators and stakeholders. Ability to work individually and as a team

Duties: Provide emotional support for vulnerable learners. Keep updated records of vulnerable learners. Accompany learners to access social welfare services. Assist learners with homework especially those from Child and Granny headed families. Facilitate peer education activities. Organise with educators and School Based Support Teams (SBST’s) on commemorative events in school calendar events related to HIV/Aids, TB and COVID 19 prevention. Establish and Manage networks with local stakeholders that support the provision of care and support for learners. Provide support to pregnant learners, those who are sick or missed school by taking schoolwork to their homes. Develop and submit monthly and quarterly reports to the school principal and District Learner Support Agent Supervisor. Provide support to other counselling needs within the circuit.

Job Purpose: Render professional and effective guidance to support schools to render care, support and protection to vulnerable learners in line with the implementation of HIV/AIDS Life Skills Education programme and Care and Support for teaching and Learning (CSTL) programme. Provide Leaner Support Agents monitoring and support services at both secondary schools and their feeder primary schools for consistent learner development throughout grades progression.
 
Skills: Good writing skills that will enable the incumbent to compile reports. Good communication, listening and problem solving skills. Computer literate in MS Word. Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (for work related purposes). Ability to work with learners, educators and stakeholders. Ability to work individually and as a team. Duties: Work in collaboration with both HIV/AIDS Life Skills and Psychological Services Co-ordinators in the District Collect and record learners barriers to learning baseline information at identified high burden schools Provide leadership to Learner Support Agents in schools arid to ensure that they fulfil their job prescripts. Work with School Based Support Teams (SBST) to screen and identify vulnerable learners and development plans to support them Establish and manage networks with local stakeholders that support the provision of care and support for learners. Provide guidance and counselling to learners who are experiencing or haven exposed to trauma. Attend and participate in various local stakeholders meetings including District Learner Support Teams meetings Provide orientation training to the LSAs based in schools. Consolidate monthly and quarterly LSAs District reports.

1.1. Applicants are advised to target schools closer to their areas of locality/homes because they will be expected to work after hours
