Location: Alfred Nzo District (Eastern Cape Province)

Duration of Contracts: 6 months fixed term contract (October 2020-31 March 2021)

Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health Institute NPC, (MatCH) is a non-profit organization
supporting public sector health services. MatCH implements donor funded projects to improve
HIV and TB outcomes through providing technical assistance and direct service delivery
support. MatCH Institute NPC is looking to fill the following Positions under the APACE Grant

10 x Counsellors – (Ref: 234)
Main purpose of the job
The incumbents will provide HIV testing services (HTS) to clients at public health service entry
points. Ensure that all clients that undertake HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) are
psychologically prepared. Provide psychological support in preparation for the receipt of
results and education on HIV and health related issues. Identify vulnerable groups with linkage
to HCT. Follow up of sputum/blood results and linkage to care and community outreach.
Key performance areas
• Provide pre and post HIV test counselling and testing to clients
• Conduct health education and literacy sessions to all clients on HIV & AIDS and related
issues
• Identify vulnerable groups and provide linkage to testing and adherence counselling
• Assist with viral load monitoring and provide adherence counselling for treatment
failure
• Form and conduct support groups for Adolescent patients
• Follow up on PCR results and linkage to care
• Assist with community outreach Programmes (HCT)
• Quality data management
• Compile monthly reports
Required minimum education and training
o Matric
o Valid HIV/AIDS counselling certificate
Minimum work experience
o 6 months relevant working experience as a HIV Counsellor and tester in a health-
related HIV/ARV environment
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
o Must be proficient in English and relevant local language/s spoken in the district
o Must practice confidentiality and tact and be able to deal with sensitive information
o Good communication and organizational skills
o Ability to maintain effective relationships in a multidisciplinary team
o Driver’s license
o Ability to travel

7 x Filing Clerk – (Ref: 236)
Main purpose of the job
To ensure that information is easy to locate when it’s needed. To organize and file documents
and retrieve data.
Key performance areas
• The Filing Clerk will confidentially handle patient files
• Understand the filing system
• Locate and transport patient files within the facility
• File the patients file in a numerical and/or alphabetical as per facility filing format and
maintaining this filing order.
• Communicate with the team leader

o Matric

• Admin
• Filing
• Excellent organizational skills
• Great attention to detail

1 x Enrolled Nurse- (Outreach Team Leader) – (Ref: 237)
Main purpose of the job
The Outreach Team Leader will be responsible for management, supervision, coordination and
reporting for team of Community Health Workers (CHWs)Community Caregivers (CCGs) and
the households assigned to the team, also providing community – based services at ward level.
Key performance areas
• Project coordination and management
• Collect data generated by the Community Health Workers and submit various reports.
• Service delivery to patients, linkage and referral to care
• Staff supervision
• Facilitate training of and mentor community health workers
Required minimum education and training
o Enrolled Nurse Qualification
o SANC Registration (South African Nursing Council)
o HIV counselling certificate
Minimum work experience
o 2 years’ experience in a public health setting
o 1-year experience in HIV testing
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
o Working experience in coordinating HIV / TB programmes in public health setting.
o Ability to handle a varied, busy, pressurised workload with competing demands on time
and extensive travel to various sites
o Positive, enthusiastic and self-motivated approach to work.
o Proficiency in English and relevant local language/s spoken in the district
o A valid driver’s license, willingness and ability to travel
