Discovery Has Internship opportunities for unemployed South African Citizens for a period of 12 Months training programme.

Preferably from TVET College with Qualifications mentioned below. There’s possibility of extension or permanent after 12 Months of contract.

About the Discovery Internship Programme

An internship is a programme which provides on the job training for unemployed graduates who need to gain work experience.

The Discovery Internship Programme was launched in 2006 and we have successfully developed and changed the lives of over 480 graduates, with an average permanent placement of 71% post an internship.

You will be awarded an opportunity to join the smartest team in the industry and be prepared to enter any fast paced work environment after your 12 months with Discovery.

Applications will be considered from learners that have completed the following N6 programmes:

  • Business Management
  • Financial Management
  • Marketing Management
  • Management Assistant
  • Human Resource Management
  • IT

Key Purpose of the role

Configuration analysts are responsible for developing and maintaining server data, software and other technological aspects of Discovery Systems including the relationship between systems in form of topology mapping.

Configuration analysts will be responsible for making sure that discovery companies are able to use technology throughout all departments.

They also make sure that necessary technology interfaces appropriately with client needs, including third-party applications. The area also looks after devops admin tasks so is room to grow in this space as well.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

  • Asset and CI Data analysis and maintenance of all admin/Operations for the config and devops space.
  • Work closely with the IT and Systems teams to ensure that the asset and CI data is accurate and up to date.
  • Analysis and updating of CI data as well as building and systems topologies for Discovery Groups Systems.
  • Work will be assigned via the ca ticketing system and will be managed via a queue.
  • Working with DH finance teams to ensure data is correct monthly for billing run for each discovery company.
  • Good Understanding of systems archicture eg Databases, applications, server etc.
  • Assist with daily operational tasks of the Devops tools and environment used for DH Systems teams. Tools sets include , Dynatrace for Monitoring , Bamboo , Elastic Search , Nomad , bitbucket etc
  • Manage work tickets assigned within agreed SLA.
  • Work directly with users to identify and fix configuration issues

Qualification Requirement

  • Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
  • Information Technology Diploma/Degree
  • Knowledge of scripting languages, development language and database management Eg SQL Queries, Python, Java (Advantageous)
  • Windows and Linux command line skills (Advantageous)

Specific Requirements:

  • No previous internship and/or graduate programme in any industry or government institution
  • No work experience (Essential)
  • Between the ages of 18 – 30 (Essential)
  • You must be a South African Citizen by Birth or by naturalization before the 27th April 1994.
